There is something about Labor Day that feels a bit like the start of a New Year. The kids go back to school and you get to re-group after putting the bathing suits away and enjoying a long hot summer. From my business perspective it allows me to get back to strategic goal setting and I seem to have more stamina to tackle projects I have been putting off all Summer.
Have you ever wondered why we celebrate Labor Day and how the holiday came to be? The first Monday in September was proposed as Labor Day by the Central Labor Union in New York. They encouraged similar organizations in other cities to celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. By l885, Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial cities across the United States.
This Labor Day may find many people out of the Labor market or longing to have a job to go back to with the current unemployment rate hovering at 9.5%. Many of the customers we work with are in career transition or are dipping their toes into businesses endeavors fueled by their passions. Many of our clients have started their own businesses in a quest to exert stability and control over their own destiny.
At Printz we do what we can to help new business owners and folks pursue their passions by printing great marketing pieces, find targeted direct mail lists designed to speak to their customers and stimulate the economy in our own small way. Our company has grown in the last year and it is because of the great work of our employees. We believe Labor Day is dedicated to the achievements of our workers who make our companies success possible. Lets here it for our employees and all the other employees that create our nation's strength and leadership this Labor Day.
